MyFitnessPal? Lose It? MyNetDiary? You may have heard the names recently. These apps are some of the most popular for food journaling today. Currently, food journaling is a hot topic in health and wellness. Food journaling is the process of writing down everything you consume throughout a day (ideally three to four times a week).
So why is everyone journaling?
Weight loss, improved nutrition, and identification of a food intolerance/allergy are some of the top benefits a food journal. A food journal allows you to take a closer look at your eating habits and keep you accountable to healthy eating. You can identify patterns in your eating; recognize the way certain foods make you feel; and make a conscious decision to select the healthier option based on your goals.
How To Journal:
To start journaling, first choose your format for journaling. Test out different methods and find the solution that works best for you. It could be utilizing one of the apps mentioned earlier, a notebook, the notes section of your phone, your wellness program’s food log, sticky notes, food journal templates, etc. The most important piece of food journaling is logging your consumption honestly and consistently so find the method that will work best for you.
