It’s been said to “Follow Your Heart,” but what is our heart saying? Did you know that the heart beats about 100,000 times in one day, and 35 million times in a year? (3) Our heartbeat tells us when we’re experiencing different emotions. If our heart is so important, than why do we fill our bodies with junk?
Foods that affect your heart health include, but are not limited to: Processed Meats, Red Meat, Pizza, Fried Food, Soda, and more. (2) These foods taste so good, but why are they so bad? There is always time to improve your heart health – start by daily exercise, and a healthy diet. What foods are good for the heart? Well, Yogurts, Raisins, Whole Grains, Beans, Fish, Dark Chocolate, Berries, and Bananas, (1) (just to name a few) can help your heart health. Remember that the key to heart health and to any diet is moderation. Although it’s tough to break bad habits, but it will help you feel better, and help your heart to be healthier. 30 minutes a day of exercise is also recommended for heart health.
This month, let’s focus on the heart. Set a goal for yourself to eat heart healthy foods, and to exercise on a daily or weekly basis. “Get to the heart of matter, and care about YOUR heart health.”
